CONTROVERSY

|
Arizona
State
Representative
Leo
Biasiucci
(R-LD30),
who
currently
serves as
the House
Majority
Leader, has
faced public
criticism
primarily
regarding
his
attendance
at a
controversial
convention
and
allegations
of using his
office for
personal
gain.

Controversy
Over QAnon
Convention
Attendance |
| |
|
In October
2021,
Biasiucci
was one of
four Arizona
Republican
legislators
who spoke at
the "Patriot
Double Down"
convention
in Las
Vegas.
(ref 1) |
| |
-
The
Incident:
The
event
was
widely
identified
as a
QAnon-affiliated
convention
featuring
speakers
from the
fringe
of the
conspiracy
world
and
antisemitic
imagery.
|
-
Response:
Biasiucci
defended
his
attendance,
reportedly
telling
attendees
that he
"doesn't
bow down
to
anybody"
and had
ignored
lobbyists
who
warned
him
against
being
associated
with the
extremist
belief
system.

Ethics
Allegations:
The Topock
Land Project |
| |
|
In June
2023,
investigative
reports
raised
questions
about
Biasiucci’s
use of his
legislative
office to
support a
project on
land he
partially
owned.

|
| |
-
Conflict
of
Interest
Claim:
Documents
showed
that
shortly
after
being
involved
in the
purchase
of 169
acres in
the
Topock/Golden
Shores
area,
Biasiucci
used his
official
House
letterhead
to thank
a
development
team for
considering
expansion
in
Mohave
County—specifically
on the
land he
owned.
|
-
Criticism:
Critics
argued
this
constituted
a use of
public
office
for
private
financial
benefit,
as the
letter
was used
to
support
a
controversial
development
project
that
would
increase
the
value of
his own
property.

Legislative
and
Political
Criticism |
| |
-
"EBT
Junk
Food"
Ban:
In early
2026,
Biasiucci
introduced
a plan
to ban
the
purchase
of sodas
and
"junk
food"
using
EBT
cards.
He faced
pushback
and was
eventually
forced
to strip
out
parts of
the bill
after
admitting
his
definition
of "junk
food"
was so
broad it
accidentally
included
health
and
granola
bars.
|
-
Traffic
Ticket
Legislation:
Shortly
after
receiving
what he
described
as an
"expensive
traffic
ticket,"
Biasiucci
proposed
a bill
(HB
2055) to
mandate
that
judges
offer
community
service
as a
non-cash
alternative
to
paying
fines.
The
League
of
Arizona
Cities
and
Towns
criticized
the
move,
noting
it would
drain
revenue
used for
public
safety.
|
-
Party
Swapping:
Critics
often
point to
his
political
history;
he
originally
ran for
office
in 2016
as a
progressive
Green
Party
candidate
before
switching
to the
Republican
Party
later
that
same
year.

| Arizona Republicans Gleefully Shoot Down Democrats’ Attempts To Repeal 1864 Abortion Ban |
| "Arizona Republicans celebrated Wednesday after swatting down Democrats’ fourth attempt in two weeks to repeal the state’s near-total abortion ban, which the state Supreme Court upheld last week. Rep. David Livingston (R-AZ) turned to the galleries, stuffed with a mix of pro- and anti-abortion rights protesters, and applauded his supporters, raising his fists in triumph. Majority Whip Teresa Martinez (R-AZ) mouthed “we got you” and did a thumbs up. Majority Leader Leo Biasiucci (R-AZ) grinned and accepted a handshake on his way out of the chamber." |

Document Shows Leo Biasiucci Used House Office To Support Controversial Topock Project |
| |
|

|
| |
|
"A little more than a year after he was involved in the purchase of 169 acres of land on three adjacent parcels in the Topock/Golden Shores area, Arizona State Rep. Leo Biasiucci sent a letter, addressed to a development team, thanking them for considering expansion in Mohave County. On the very land he owns." [ . . . ] "Biasiucci's letter was on official Arizona House of Representatives letterhead with his name, title as then-majority whip and contact information in the upper lefthand corner. It also bore his signature after lavishing praise on the Riverbound team that was proposing to transform land purchased by a group that included Biasiucci and his wife, Taylor." |

| Four Arizona State Reps Break Term Limits Pledge |
| "Arizona State Representatives Liz Harris, Keith Seaman, Rachel Jones and Leo Biasiucci reneged on their pledges they had made to their constituents by voting against a term limits resolution they had vowed to support. On the Arizona House Floor, Harris, Seaman, Jones and Biasiucci voted “No” on HCR 2016, a resolution for an amendment convention that would propose term limits on Congress. The state reps had previously signed a pledge stating, “I pledge, that as a member of the state legislature, I will cosponsor and vote for the resolution applying for an Article V convention for the sole purpose of enacting term limits on Congress.”” |

| Pfizer Gave Money To Arizona Legislators Speaking At Anti-Vaxxer QAnon Conference |
| "Pfizer likely may not have its executives at the QAnon conference in Las Vegas on Oct. 22-25, but three Arizona legislators it gave money to will be there as “special guests” and speakers. The three Republican Arizona legislators are Rep. Mark Finchem, Rep. Leo Biasiucci and Sen. Sonny Borrelli. In the 2018 and 2020 election cycles, the drug maker gave Finchem a total of $900 and Biasiucci a total of $800. Pfizer gave Borelli a combined $1,000 between 2014 and 2018. QAnon followers have become one of the leading national sources of conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer and others. Based on the belief that there is a worldwide Satan-worshipping pedophile network controlling the government and media, QAnon has increasingly become enmeshed with claims that Covid-19 is a hoax and that the injection’s purpose it to insert a tracking chip in peoples’ arms" [...] "Finchem, who is running for Arizona Secretary of State and has been endorsed by former President Trump, has fully embraced Trump’s big lie that the 2020 election was stolen and was outside the Capitol on Jan. 6 while it was being stormed by pro-Trump insurrectionists." |
