"Jacob
Chansley, more commonly
known as the QAnon Shaman, was a
guest of Glendale Republican
Anthony Kern at the Arizona
Capitol this week, allowing
Chansley access to areas where
the public is generally
prohibited. |
|
Chansley is
known for being one of the most
recognizable members of the
crowd that breached the United
States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021
while wearing a horned hat, face
paint and no shirt. His actions
that day led to a 41-month
prison sentence, a portion of
which he served at the Federal
Correctional Institute in
Safford. He was released early
in March to a half-way house,
and returned to his home in the
Valley on probation in May 2023.
Chansley sought to vacate the
ruling, citing dubious reporting
by former Fox anchor Tucker
Carlson. |
|
On Feb. 20,
Kern introduced Chansley and
others as his guests at the
Arizona Senate. Kern himself is
tied to the events of Jan. 6 as
he was photographed in areas of
the Capitol that rioters
breached. Kern has stated on
multiple occasions that he never
entered the Capitol itself.
Other senators, like Goodyear
Republican
Janae Shamp, were also
present that day." |

Four Convicted Capitol Rioters Are Running
For Congress, And These Republicans Are Just
Fine With It |
"after spending three
years normalizing the grotesquely abnormal
and forgiving the unforgivable, Republicans
are standing by, cow-eyed and mute, as their
chickenshit insurrectionists come home to
roost. In addition to Chansley, they
include Ryan Zink, Derrick Evans, and Philip
Sean Grillo, who were all convicted of
felonies in connection with the Jan. 6
insurrection." |

GOP Candidates For Congress Continue To
Argue Elections Were Stolen, Government
Corrupt |
"Some Republican
candidates running for Congress in Arizona's
8th district continue to argue that the 2020
and 2022 elections in Arizona were stolen
from their party and made those complaints a
central theme of a Wednesday forum." [ . . .
] "The 8th Congressional District forum was
hosted by conservative activist
Merissa Hamilton, who lost a bid for
Phoenix mayor in 2020 and now runs a
political group called EZAZ.org. Jenna
Rayne, an Arizona State University student
and chair of the West Valley Young
Republicans, moderated the forum with
Hamilton.
Abe Hamadeh, who lost a bid for Arizona
attorney general last year and continues to
file lawsuits challenging that outcome,
Masters, and state Sen.
Anthony Kern participated. Jacob
Chansley, often known as the QAnon
Shaman for his protest persona, attended the
event but was not allowed to speak because
he plans to run as a Libertarian and the
event was for Republican candidates only,
according to the hosts." |

'QAnon Shaman' Wants To Run For Congress?
The Jan. 6 Felon Can't Even Vote In Arizona |
"Two carpet baggers, a
fake elector, an ex-congressman who asked
female staffers to carry his baby and
Arizona House Speaker
Ben Toma. Could the race to replace
Democratic Rep.
Debbie Lesko get any wackier? Yes, as it
turns out. Why, yes, it could." |

'QAnon Shaman' Jacob Chansley
Files Paperwork Stating He
Intends To Run For Office In
Arizona |
"Jacob
Chansley, who may be better
known as the "QAnon Shaman," has
filed a statement of interest to
run for Arizona’s 8th
Congressional District in
Congress. Chansley stormed the
U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 and
pleaded guilty to obstruction of
an official proceeding. He was
originally sentenced in Nov.
2021 to 41 months in prison for
his role in the Insurrection. He
instead served about 27 months
before being transferred to
Phoenix in March 2023. Chansley
was described by prosecutors in
his Jan. 6 trial as "the public
face of the Capitol riot." He
stood out from the rioters who
stormed the Capitol, shirtless
with a horned headdress at the
dais where Vice President Pence
had been presiding at the
certification of the 2020
election." |

alt-right conspiracy theorist
and activist who participated in

Chansley
attended demonstrations in the
Phoenix, Arizona, area starting
around 2019, in particular in a
march for climate. At rallies,
he promoted conspiracy theories
supporting Trump, and he has
been a counterprotestor at Black
Lives Matter events. His
appearance, with face paint
utilizing the colors and symbols
of the American flag and a
headdress made of animal fur,
helped to establish his shaman
nicknames. |

After
being photographed taking part
in the January 6 storming of the
Capitol, Chansley was arrested
on January 9 on federal charges
of "knowingly entering or
remaining in any restricted
building or grounds without
lawful authority, and with
violent entry and disorderly
conduct on Capitol grounds". He
pleaded guilty to a single
charge in September, and was
sentenced to 41 months (3.4 yr)
in prison in November 2021. He
served out a portion of his
sentence at Federal Correctional
Institution - Safford in
Safford, Arizona, and was
transferred to a halfway house
on March 28, 2023, from which he
was released on May 25, 2023." |

""This is what every single great leader, or
great you know pioneer of sorts, has had to
go through, whether it be people like Gandhi
or Martin Luther King Jr., or Jesus Christ,"
Chansley told the "Conservative Daily"
podcast hosted by right-wing figure Joe
Oltmann, on Friday. "When you challenge a
system that is so heavily corrupt, when you
speak truth to power, okay, what it does is
it sends ripples throughout the world."" |

41 Months In Prison For Role In US Capitol
Riot |
"Jacob Chansley,
the so-called “QAnon Shaman,” was sentenced
to 41 months in prison for his role in the

‘QAnon Shaman’ Jacob Chansley Pleads Guilty
To Felony In US Capitol Riot |
" The so-called “QAnon
Shaman” who stormed the US Capitol in a
horned bearskin outfit pleaded guilty Friday
to a felony for obstructing the Electoral
College proceedings on January 6. The
defendant, Jacob Chansley of Arizona,
is a well-known figure in the QAnon
movement. He went viral after the January 6
attack because of the bizarre outfit he wore
while rummaging through the Capitol. He made
his way to the Senate dais that was hastily
vacated earlier by Vice President Mike Pence
– someone Chansley falsely claimed was a
“child-trafficking traitor.” " |

said. In an interview, defense lawyer Albert
Watkins said that officials at the federal
Bureau of Prisons, or BOP, have
diagnosed his client Jacob Chansley
with transient schizophrenia, bipolar

Jacob Chansley, Self-Styled 'QAnon Shaman,'
To Stay In Jail Pending Trial |
A federal judge ruled
Monday that the man often called the "QAnon
Shaman" must remain in jail pending his
trial for his role in the Jan. 6 siege of
the U.S. Capitol because he remains a threat
to the public. Judge Royce Lamberth said in
his order rejecting Jacob Chansley's
request for release that "no condition or
combination of conditions" would ensure
Chansley's return to court if he were
released. Lamberth said Chansley believes
his actions during the siege of the Capitol,
an attack in which five people died, were
peaceful. That mindset, Lamberth wrote,
shows "a detachment from reality." |

Capitol Rioters Planned To Capture, Kill
Lawmakers, Prosecutors Say |
"Members of a
pro-Trump mob planned to capture and kill
elected officials during a siege of the
Capitol last week, including a
self-described QAnon Shaman who left a
menacing note for Vice President Mike Pence,
federal prosecutors said. Prosecutors said
Jacob Chansley incited fellow rioters
inside the Capitol building and disobeyed
police orders. Shortly after Mr. Pence was
hustled out of the Senate Chambers, Mr.
Chansley entered the room, climbed to Mr.
Pence’s dais and posed for photographs in a
coyote tail headdress, armed with a six-foot
spear and a bullhorn, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors,
Mr.
Chansley, 33 years old, also left a note for
Mr. Pence: “it’s only a matter of time,
justice is coming.”" |

'QAnon Shaman' Jacob Chansley, Who Was
Arrested After Storming The Capitol In A Fur
Headdress And Horns, Has Been Denied Bail |
"A federal district
judge in Arizona denied bail to Jacob
Chansley on Friday, saying she had "no
confidence" that he would follow court
orders to voluntarily appear for trial.
"This is not a protest, this is a riot, this
is an insurrection," the judge said of the
events at the Capitol on January 6, saying
that the context surrounding Chansley's
alleged conduct was an important backdrop to
her decision not to release Chansley ahead
of his trial because he was a "symbol of
what occurred." She said Chansley appeared
to have "righteously believed" that he had
done nothing wrong and that he had plans to
return to the US Capitol for President-elect
Joseph Biden's inauguration." |
